ABOUT ST. LOUIS
This short-term mission runs Sunday to Friday with a dual ministry focus on St. Louis children's ministry with underprivileged children (and their parents) as well as urban community garden projects is available first come first served.
These two ministries form the anchor of activity for your week! Your group will assist and encourage strategic non-profit organizations here in the "Lou", where faith based groups are encouraged to play key roles!
You will have the opportunity to take part and or lead children's activities, training, food distribution, gardening, and more! Using the ministry experience as a practicum, we will craft sessions where your team de-briefs the lessons they have learned through hands on ministry! We'll "follow the food" from the gardens through food pantries and onto the tables of those in need. Your team will grow to better understand the systemic approach needed to address complicated problems.
Allow your team to wrestle with the issues of seeking justice, while lodging and working in a safe environment with extremely competent mature leaders on the ground. During the week we will also have opportunities to explore the St. Louis area. This "Gateway to the West" is famous for its bar-b-que, coffee roasteries, diverse ethnic groups and friendliness!
How can we prepare?
This mission trip is for a group looking to join in on activity that is pre-planned by the ministries on the ground, but also allows for some customization based on your groups maturity and goals in ministry. We can help you with curriculum designed to begin your teams examination of cultural issues long before you step into ministry in what we affectionatley call "the LOU". Your Wayfinder Guide will fill you in on preparations for this unique opportunity changing lives.
Your team is an important key to the ongoing work happening here 365 days a year! The church and non-profits have volunteers that work really hard year round. As your team joins in, you lift the hands of people and make a huge difference! St. Louis trips represent a truly unique learning and doing opportunity, reserve your spot before the weeks fill up!
